Terms of Service.
The deal, written the way we would explain it out loud. By using Fund Your Team — giving to a campaign, sponsoring a team, or running one — you're agreeing to what's below.
Effective August 16, 2026 · Fund Your Team is developed & owned by Surfstung Systems, LLC, Charleston, SC
- The team runs the fundraiser. We provide the software. Fund Your Team is not the charity and does not decide how the money gets spent.
- Donations go into the organization's own Stripe account — never into ours. We never hold or route your money.
- Nothing is ever auto-deducted from a donation. On standard terms we invoice the team 15% once, at the end of the campaign.
- Sponsor offers are the business's promise, not ours. We print it; they honor it.
- Made a mistake with a gift? Email us. We'll work it out with the team — see section 5.
01What Fund Your Team is
Fund Your Team is software, operated by Surfstung Systems, LLC, that a sports organization uses to run its own fundraiser: a public team page, per-player pages, online giving, a sponsor program, and the receipts and share tools around them.
We are not the fundraiser. The organization sets the goal, writes what the money is for, enters the roster, and decides how funds are used. Questions about how a specific campaign spends its money go to that organization.
Fund Your Team requires participating organizations to be registered 501(c)(3) nonprofits with their own Stripe account. We may verify this and may decline or end service to an organization that does not qualify.
02If you give to a campaign
A donation is a gift to the organization running the campaign, made through Stripe into that organization's own account. Fund Your Team never takes custody of it.
Tax deductibility depends on the organization, not on us. Your receipt carries that organization's legal name, its EIN, and whatever disclosure it is required to make. Treat the receipt as the authority and talk to your own tax advisor — nothing here is tax advice.
You may be asked to add a small amount to cover payment processing so the team receives the full gift. The amount is always shown before you confirm, it is calculated on our servers rather than in your browser, and on standard terms it is 3.5% plus 30¢. Some teams waive it.
Please give only with a payment method you are authorized to use, and please keep public messages fit for a page that kids and their families will read. We can remove a message that isn't.
03If you sponsor a team
A sponsorship is a donation at or above the team's sponsor threshold, which additionally places your business on the team's sponsor wall and, at the applicable rungs, in the team's coupon book and sponsor spotlight.
Your offer is your promise. If you publish “10% off any service call,” you are responsible for honoring it for the people who show up with it. Fund Your Team displays what you submit; we do not guarantee, underwrite, or mediate it. Keep the offer accurate, lawful, and genuinely redeemable for the season it runs.
You control which of your contact details are shown publicly. By submitting a logo, company name, or offer text, you confirm you have the right to use them and you allow us to display them on that team's pages and printed materials for the campaign.
Placement and benefits reflect the rung reached at the time of the gift. We may decline or remove a listing that is unlawful, misleading, or inappropriate for a youth-sports audience.
04If you run a campaign for a team
What it costs. On standard terms, 15% of what your campaign raises, invoiced once at the close. No setup fee, no monthly subscription, and nothing is ever taken out of a donation as it comes in. Stripe charges its own processing fees against your Stripe account directly. If your written agreement with us says something different, your agreement governs.
What you're responsible for. The accuracy of your roster and your fundraising claims; having permission to publish each player's name, photo, and details; keeping your login credentials secure; and complying with the rules of your league, school, or governing body. You are the one who decides what appears on your page.
Player information. Only publish what you have the right to publish. If a parent or guardian asks for a player to be removed, honor it — and if you need help, we will do it for you.
You keep ownership of your content. You give us permission to host and display it for the purpose of running your campaign, and to reference your campaign as an example of the platform in use unless you ask us not to.
05Refunds and mistakes
Donations are generally final — the money is already in the organization's account, and campaigns are planned around it.
That said, mistakes happen: a duplicate charge, a wrong amount, a gift meant for a different player. Email info@surfstung.com and we will look at it and work with the organization to sort it out. Because the funds sit in the organization's Stripe account, a refund is ultimately its decision — but we have issued them, and we will not give you the runaround.
Unauthorized use of a card should be reported to your bank as well as to us.
06Acceptable use
Please don't:
- Submit false information, or raise money for something other than the campaign as described.
- Use the platform to break the law, or the rules of a school or league.
- Post content that is abusive, harassing, deceptive, or inappropriate around minors.
- Attempt to break, overload, scrape, or reverse-engineer the service, or access data that isn't yours.
- Use donor or sponsor contact information for unrelated marketing.
We can remove content and suspend or end access for any of the above. If we do it to a live campaign, we will tell the organization why.
07Availability, and the honest limits
We work hard to keep the service up, especially while a campaign is live, and we monitor it. But it is provided as-is: we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation, and we do not guarantee that any campaign will reach its goal.
To the fullest extent the law allows, Surfstung Systems, LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability relating to the service is limited to the fees we actually received from you in the twelve months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply only as far as they legally can.
Nothing here limits liability for fraud, or for anything that cannot lawfully be limited.
08Changes, and the law that applies
We may update these terms as the product changes. The effective date at the top moves when they do, and material changes get a note on the site rather than a silent edit. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts located in Charleston County, South Carolina are the venue for any dispute.
